International Animation Day observed in Animation colleges

Animation colleges and associations across Indian and the world are celebrating the International Animation Day today in commemoration of the historic moment on 28 October, 1892, when a French inventor Emile Reynaud (1844 -1918) made the first public performance of animation at the Grevin Museum in Paris, using his own invention "Theatre Optique" (optical theatre.)

To promote and develop animation as an art all over the world, 28 October was declared in 2002 as the International Animation Day (IAD) by the international non-profit organisation, International Animated Film Association (Association Internationale du Film d'Animation) or ASIFA.

In India too, animation colleges such as Pran Media Institute conducted special workshops on animation on the occasion. Pran Media, based in Noida offers a broad range of programs from degree courses, to diplomas through to correspondence courses in the areas of Journalism & Media and Animation & Multimedia.
