Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPHG) in Gandhinagar (Gujarat) plans to offer new course for MBBS qualified Doctors

Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPHG), Gandhinagar plans to offer a course for MBBS qualified doctors. The three-month fulltime course, Associate Fellow of Industrial Health, will be regulated by director general of factory advisory services and labour institutes, government of India.

The course will be launched by IIPHG with support from the apex institute for occupational health National Institute of Occupational Health, Ahmedabad.


"Occupational and industrial health is an important branch of medicine that brings together expertise from medicine, engineering and several other disciplines. It combines clinical medicine and public health and is a vital part and determinant of public health at large," IIPHG said.


As per Factories Act, this is a mandatory qualification for doctors working in hazardous industry. "Expert faculty, adequate practical training and hands-on experience shall be the hallmark of this course," the institute added.


IIPHG was launched by Public Health Foundation of India in 2008 in collaboration with government of Gujarat.
